The design of Frangi is centered around the iris, a flower species with a distinctive structure of three petals, three calyxes, and three stigmatic lips. Tiger Pan, the designer, epitomized the shape of the iris into a layered pattern, creating a sense of depth and vintage elegance. This pattern also symbolizes the spirit of the enterprise, reflecting its commitment to innovation and quality.
What sets Frangi apart is its minimalist glass bottle paired with a light golden cap featuring a sparkling iris. The flower, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, is encased in a crystal acrylic cylinder, creating a visually stunning centerpiece. The design team used thick glass and a high-quality case to enhance the feeling of preciousness and rarity, further elevating the product's appeal.
The production process was not without its challenges. The creation of the acrylic iris shape inside the crystal cap required careful consideration to ensure it reflected light from every angle. After numerous tests and negotiations with the factory, the team successfully realized their vision using injection-moulding technology. Another challenge was achieving the desired effect with the hot pressing technique used on the paper box. The team conducted numerous tests to perfect the process, resulting in a vivid and lively depiction of the iris on the white paper.
The design team's efforts paid off when Frangi was awarded the Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. The award recognizes products and ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
Frangi is a testament to the power of design in enhancing the value of a product. By drawing inspiration from nature and overcoming technical challenges, Tiger Pan and his team have created a packaging design that is not only functional but also a work of art. The success of Frangi serves as an inspiration for designers and brands to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
